Reliable origin and affordable prices have made Vietnamese products a big hit for customers, reversing the shopping trends that Vietnamese people often prefer foreign products to locally produced ones.

Customer Mai Hoa of Cau Giay district said, “Since the launch of the ‘Vietnamese people prioritize Vietnamese goods’ campaign, I have used a lot more Vietnamese products, which are of wide variety, high quality, reasonable prices, and abundant supply.”

In the first half of 2020, retail sales accounted for over 80% of total sales, up 3.4% year-on-year.

Vu Thi Hau, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Retailers Association, told VOV, “Our retail system and manufacturers are promoting Vietnamese commodities with priority given to product quality and reasonable prices. Their cooperation has generated higher profits, notably from seasonal goods.”

Economists believe that this pandemic time provides an opportunity for businesses to capitalize on the domestic market. It’s the time to affirm their product quality and good prices to earn the trust of Vietnamese consumers. This requires Vietnamese manufacturers to shift their production from export orientation to domestic catering.
