Vietnamese realize improvements in public services
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s provincial and local government performance has improved across the board, with citizens reporting greater satisfaction with most basic public services and increased interaction with local officials, according to a report released on Tuesday.
The 2018 Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) Report showed that Vietnamese people acknowledged progress in most arenas including participation at the local level, transparency, vertical accountability, control of corruption in the public sector, public administrative procedures, and public service delivery. More than 14,000 people participated in the 2018 survey, a record number.
PAPI is a policy monitoring tool that assesses citizen experiences and satisfaction together with governmental performance at the national and sub-national levels of governance, public administration and public service delivery.
First launched in 2009, the PAPI survey has surveyed nearly 120,000 people. The report is a collaboration between the Center for Community Support and Development Studies (CECODES), the Center for Research and Training of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF-CRT), the Real-Time Analytics and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
