Ambassador and Head of the EU delegation Bruno Angelet pointed to important contents of the EVFTA including trade-economics, institutional improvement, legislation and regional security. The EVFTA needs ratification before officially taking effect in 2018. In two years, member countries will prepare regulations and conditions for effective implementation.
“We have two programs and one is MUTRAP. It’s a program to increase capacity of Vietnam to trade and export to Europe. The second program is the assistance to members of ASEAN. They have more capacity to implement the ASEAN economic community. On the second program, we’ll also calibrate something in particular for Vietnam. There is also another very important issue that I think we should address with Vietnam is the taxation and fiscal balance. I mean the public finance management.”said Mr. Bruno.
The EVFTA will support Vietnam in transforming to a greener and smarter economy and improving its global competitiveness.
