Vietnam’s Customs widens international cooperation

(VOVworld) – The customs agencies of Vietnam and Hong Kong, China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation and Mutual Administrative Assistance.

The event took place in Brussels on Friday as part the annual World Customs Organization meeting. This is the 18th cooperative agreement the Vietnamese Customs has inked with its foreign partners around the world.

Nguyen Ngoc Tuc, Director General of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, said the document is an important milestone for the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Hong Kong.

The Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Mr Clement Cheung said the signing was a new start of cooperation offering more opportunities for both and bringing more economic benefits.

On this occasion, Mr. Tuc held other bilateral meetings with leaders of Customs Departments to strengthen cooperation and mutual assistance. Rudolf Dietrich, Director General of Swiss Customs, said Switzerland will realize a commitment using the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) fund to help Vietnam. Meanwhile, at a meeting with Mazhit Yessenbayev, President of the Kazakh Customs Committee, both officials underlined efforts to reach a common consensus in customs cooperation.
