Vietnam’s economy likely to grow 8% in 2022

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese economy has recovered and is likely to grow 8% this year, Phan Duc Hieu, member of the National Assembly’s Economic Committee, said at a seminar on Wednesday in Hanoi spotlighting driving forces for Vietnamese economic development.

The overall target for 2023 is to keep the macro-economy stable, control inflation, boost growth, and ensure the economy’s major balances.

It’s necessary to accelerate restructuring, improve internal capacity, and effectively implement the economic recovery program and three national target programs, and promote innovation, green growth, and digital transformation, said Hieu.

“We have set very specific goals for 2023, and devised both short and long-term solutions to achieve them. For these solutions, enforcement and actions will be crucial. The difference between 2023 and this year is that enforcement must be on time,” according to Hieu.

Creating a transparent and effective business investment environment will create a driving force for economic development next year.

To that end, Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center, underscored the need to promulgate policies and diversify ways of accessing capital flows for businesses to recover and develop.

“The Government needs to find solutions to restore the current capital market by restoring and developing the corporate bond market. Interest rate reduction should be considered based on market fluctuations,” said Loc.
