Vietnam’s exports rebound strongly

(VOVWORLD) - In the first half of the year, Vietnam’s textile exports earned 15 billion USD – up 15% – and leather and footwear exports earned 10 billion USD – up 18% – according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Ministry’s Import and Export Department, said textile and footwear businesses are recovering strongly from the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to a large number of orders.

“Textile, leather, and footwear businesses are receiving more orders thanks to the global economic recovery, especially in the US and EU markets," Hai said, "According to the Vietnam Textile & Apparel Association, some companies have full orders until the third quarter or end of the year, which is a very good sign. Textiles, leather, and footwear account for a large proportion of Vietnam’s export.”

The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association reported that Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports rose 17.5% to reach more than 2 billion USD in the first half of the year, with China, the US, Japan, and South Korea being the biggest importers.
