The center aims to provide a platform for startup firms, learning and education, and research and development to speed up IoT technology in Vietnam in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).

It will enable domestic mobile operators, businesses, students, researchers, and startups to create, develop, and test IoT applications and support the commercialisation of products.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy said: “With the support of Ericsson, the center aims to connect universities, research institutes, and businesses to train, instruct, and update research groups and students on establishing startup businesses and help investors and major corporations to develop IoT applications related to agriculture and smart cities.”

The center was established based on a memorandum of understanding signed between Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology and Sweden’s Ericsson company last November, marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Sweden diplomatic ties.
