According to GSO General Director Nguyen Thi Huong, the growth was driven by the agriculture-forestry-fishery, industry and construction, and service sectors.

The processing and manufacturing sector grew 9.7%, making it the growth engine of the whole economy.

Vietnam earned nearly 186 billion USD from exports, up from the second quarter last year.  Import turnover was more than 185 billion USD. For the quarter, Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of 710 million USD.

In the first 6 months of this year, Vietnam registered 76,200 new businesses, up 13.6% from last year.

The number of foreign visitors coming to Vietnam is recovering. In the first half of the year, more than 600,000 visitors came to Vietnam, 7 times as many as last year.
