GDP growth reached 6.98%, the highest in 9 years. Inflation is the lowest in 3 years, with an average rise of 2.5% over 9 months. Vietnam earned 193 billion USD from exports. The trade surplus was nearly 6 billion USD.

PM Phuc said economic growth met the set goals, macroeconomic stability has been maintained, and the lives of people have gotten better.

Mr. Phuc said the results are consistent with the assessment the Party’s Civil Affairs Committee will submit to the Politburo and the Party Central Committee. 2019 is forecast to exceed all the set targets and be the second consecutive year to fulfill or exceed all 12 criteria.

Mr. Phuc said: “The achievements reflect efforts by the entire political system, agencies, the business community, and the people to overcome challenges since the beginning of the year. They have inspired the whole society, solidified the trust of investors and domestic and foreign companies, and proved the soundness of the Party’s leadership, the State’s policies, and the resoluteness of the government and agencies at all levels. The achievements have demonstrated the innovation, creativity, solidarity, and determination of the whole nation.”

Prime Minister Phuc pointed out challenges and pending issues that need to be addressed, including public investment capital disbursement and the agricultural sector’s difficulties caused by natural disasters and epidemics.
