Violence drags on in Egypt

Clashes between protesters and police have broken out in Port Said despite efforts by the military to separate the two sides. Several casualties were reported in Gharniya province, 80 km north of Cairo. Protesters used bricks and gas bombs to attack policy in Cairo. The Parliament Office has reiterated its compliance with Egypt court’s decision to suspend parliamentary elections scheduled to begin next month. This contradicts with earlier statement by President Morsi’s legal adviser Mohamed Gadallah saying that the office will file an appeal.
