The new office’s mission is to relay Indonesian news to Vietnamese people and vice versa, and explain policies of the Party and State to Vietnamese people living in Indonesia. It will help strengthen the Indonesia-Vietnam strategic partnership.

VOV President Nguyen The Ky said at the launch ceremony: “Vietnam and Indonesia have developed diplomatic ties for a long time. Both gained independence in 1945. In 1959, President Ho Chi Minh visited Indonesia and President Soekarno visited Vietnam later the same year. The two leaders laid an important foundation for bilateral friendship and cooperation relations which have been upgraded to strategic partnership. As the headquarters of ASEAN, VOV overseas bureau in Indonesia will cover news about the host country, ASEAN’s activities, and the region at large. VOV has a large number of loyal Indonesian listeners. There are many clubs of VOV listeners in Indonesia. It’s a great honor for VOV. ”

The VOV delegation visited the Vietnamese embassy in Indonesia to discuss preparations for the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Indonesia scheduled for later this year.
