VOV plays key role in Cambodia's media development, says Minister of Information

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) have always played an important role in media development in Cambodia, said Cambodia’s Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith during Tuesday’s working session with a VOV delegation led by VOV Vice President Vu Hai Quang.

Kanharith praised the Vietnamese Government for transferring modern broadcast technology, training staff in program production, and expanding the coverage area of Cambodian radio and television stations. He said that Cambodia will hold a National Assembly election and host the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) next year and asked VOV to support his Ministry in implementing communications plans. He stressed the importance of a Vietnam-Cambodia friendship radio station and urged VOV to promote this project.

Mr. Quang said VOV will continue to work closely with the Cambodian Ministry of Information and will provide maximum support.

The two delegations discussed ways VOV can support the SEA Games and the National Assembly election next year, and reviewed the transfer of broadcast technology to Cambodia to improve production and transmission at the Cambodian National Radio and Television Station. The delegations visited and assessed the usage of broadcasting equipment supported by VOV with non-refundable aid from the Vietnamese Government over the past 10 years.

Later Mr. Quang met with Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang.
