The bomb was found four meters deep underground in a garden of a local resident of Hung Thanh commune in Yen Thanh district of Nghe An province.

Local authorities quickly put up warning signs in order to ensure people stayed out of the area.

Engineers from the military headquarters of Nghe An subsequently extracted the bomb, which measured 1.2 meters in length and still had a detonator, before taking it away in order to safely dispose of it.
