Reports say the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of El-Fashir, leading to killings, assaults, abductions, and looting.

Earlier, the UN and the World Health Organization (WHO) condemned the large-scale ethnic violence in El-Fashir. The International Criminal Court (ICC) said it is gathering evidence of possible war crimes and crimes against humanity.

People in Sudan and abroad are worried about new fighting in El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan and a key city between Khartoum and Darfur, as the RSF is expected to step up its attacks there. An RSF assault on El-Obeid on November 5 killed 40 people.

The US, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have proposed a three-month ceasefire leading to peace talks. The RSF said it accepted the proposal, but fighting in Sudan continues to escalate.
