Veteran journalist Ling Dequan, who has been closely connected with Vietnam since the 1960s and witnessed Vietnam’s hardships during its resistance wars and its early days of economic reform, said the CPV has led the Vietnamese people to monumental successes and has served as a shining example for other nations that have been invaded, showing the world how to fight for national independence. Today, it remains a model for developing countries, he said.

“History has shown that it was the CPV that organized and led the movement for national liberation and independence. Without the founding of the CPV, there would not be the thriving and rapidly developing Vietnam we see today,” Ling said.

The achievements of Vietnam in 40 years of reform have made a profound impression on Professor Cheng Hanping, Director of the Vietnam Research Center at Zhejiang University of Technology. According to him, these accomplishments are evident in many areas, as the nation's strength continues to rise, providing a foundation for Vietnam to become a mid-ranking global power. At the same time, Vietnam's international influence has grown along with its economy and the living standard of its people, he said.

"What was the key to these achievements? It was the able leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the wise policies it has pursued. What are these policies? Economic globalization and reform and openingup. Like China, these reforms have enabled Vietnam to grow stronger and its people to prosper," Professor Cheng noted.
