Workshop on DNA identification of human remains opens

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have introduced technology for DNA analysis to serve the search for remains from wartime.

Addressing the scientific workshop in Hanoi on Thursday, the Vietnam Office Director of the VNOSMP, Marie Yastishock, acknowledged heavy consequences suffered by the Vietnamese people though 45 years have passed since the war ended. Vietnam is still facing difficulties identifying remains of soldiers missing during wartime due to limited technology and facilities. At the event, US experts presented cutting edge technology for DNA analysis to serve the identification of Vietnamese soldiers missing in the war.
