Major cities across the world from Sydney to Las Vegas are making final preparations for memorable New Year's Eve fireworks display.

The spectacular light shows will be even more interesting when viewed from ICONSIAM, a world class landmark by the Chao Phraya Riverside in Thailand, the Taipei 101 Tower, the tallest building in Taipei city, China’s Taiwan, or the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai.

In Russia, the central streets of Moscow has been splendidly decorated in New Year's lighting, attracting thousands of locals and tourists. At the Red Square, a charity booth has been set up for people to make donations. Visitors to Gorky Park can drop by a studio to record New Year's video messages to military personnel.

Russian cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station are also preparing for a New Year's Eve celebration far away from Earth. Roscosmos, the Russian Federal Space Agency, on Thursday released a video recording of the astronauts decorating the space station.

The harsh cold weather caused by recent blizzards can not hinder the excitement of Americans. New Yorkers will still flock to Times Square to see the final preparations for the most anticipated ball drop countdown on New Year's Eve.

Saying goodbye to the unwanted memories of the past year is also a favorite New Year's celebration for New Yorkers in Times Square where they will tear up bits of paper holding messages they wish to banish, punch a sandbag, run a short distance, or prepare for the new year with optimism.
