Xmas greetings to Catholics, Protestants

(VOVworld)- President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan visited and extended Christmas greetings to Catholic followers in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum.  Nhan wished Kon Tum Bishop Nguyen Hung Vi and local Catholic followers a Merry Christmas and urged them to further contribute to national development. He also visited and presented gifts to local disadvantaged children.

Le Hong Anh, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat extended his best Christmas wishes to the Catholic dignitaries and followers when visiting the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North) (ECVN) and the Archdiocese of Hanoi on Wednesday. Anh praised the Protestants and pastors of the Church for following guidelines of the Party and policies and laws of the State, and actively responding to patriotic emulation movements.

He urged the pastors to continue guiding followers in practicing their religion in line with the law, and joining the local authorities in national construction and defence. Meeting leaders of the Hanoi Archdiocese, Anh spoke highly of the Hanoi Catholics’ efforts in reducing poverty, building new rural areas and ensuring social order and safety.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders visited the city’s Committee for Catholic Solidarity, the municipal Archdiocese and the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (south).  Bishop Phan Khac Tu, Vice President of the Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity and Vice Chairman of the HCM City Committee for Catholic Solidarity said: “Local Catholic followers have contributed to emulation movements. We believe that we will further accelerate emulation movements among Catholic followers to contribute to the city’s development”.

The Fatherland Front in Da Nang city visited a number of Catholic and Protestant churches and followers. Nguyen Dang Hai is Vice President of the Da Nang Fatherland Front: “We hope that Catholic followers will contribute to strengthening the unity bloc and join efforts to develop the city in the coming years”.
