Nguyen Tien Duy is currently the marine chief of ship 016 – Quang Trung of Brigade 162, Navy Region 4. In 2018, after graduating from the Vietnam Naval Academy, Duy was assigned marine chief of ship 374 and ship 016 – Quang Trung.

In 2021, Duy joined the team of Vietnam naval soldiers that attended the International Military Sports Festival (Army Games) in Russia and won the silver medal.

“Participating in the marine cup competition was a great honor for the Vietnam People’s Navy and for me. I received an individual award as best leader of the maritime industry, an unforgettable highlight of my career,” said Duy.

Duy said that to attend the Army Games he and the crew of ship 016 – Quang Trung made a voyage of nearly 5,000 nautical miles, passing safely through the waters of many countries. In each event, Duy and his fellow officers had to research the conditions, topographical characteristics, and hydro-meteorological situation of an area, analyze the content, diagrams, and rules of the test, and come up with the optimal plan.

“We had to undergo hard training for the Army Games. During the training process, we faced many difficulties due to COVID-19 and trained intensively for many days at sea. Our achievement was encouraging,” said Duy.

Nguyen Tien Duy was declared one of the winners of the Vietnam Outstanding Young Faces Award 2021by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.

“It was great a honor for me to receive this award. Apart from my effort, this achievement is due to the support and encouragement of my colleagues and my family,” said Duy.
