A jazz duo from the Netherlands, Warren Byrd and Saskia Laroo, who is dubbed in the US the “Lady Miles of Europe,” impressed Hanoians with their new songs. Laroo said: “It was great feeling and very special to me because this is my first time. I am from the Netherlands, so I represent the Dutch culture and my husband is from America. It’s a mix of jazz around the world. The most special thing for me is that I performed with the students and teachers from the Jazz Department of Vietnam’s International School of Music.”

Bulgaria’s choir Kipri performed folksongs depicting the vast green steppes to the accompaniment of traditional instruments like gadulka, tamboura, bagpipe, kaval, and drums. Iliyana Naydenova, head of the choir, told VOV: “I am very happy to perform in Vietnam. I was surprised that the Vietnamese know Bulgaria and they enjoyed our performance. We sang with children from the Vietnam-Bulgaria international school.”

The art troupe Urpin-Banska Bystrica livened up the ambience with a dance typifying joy of work and love for art of the Slovakians. The audience was also treated to Sweden’s DJ LKAZ and France’s Berywam band with their upbeat beat box and acapella pieces.

Danish artists and guest musician Tri Minh from Vietnam entertained the audience with ear-catching EDM and fusion music. 

The vibrant music and dance from Europe attracted special attention from Hanoians, both young and old. Dang Thi Mai said: “Today’s performance was very interesting. I found it even more interesting because I viewed it live, instead of watching it on TV. This program helped Vietnamese learn more about European culture and music.”
