Nguyen Ha Chi, head teacher of class 3B2, says love should be spread more widely, but that’s easier said than done. The “Touch” project creates a journey to help students grow, she said, adding that Stage 1 — Embracing Yourself — teaches students how to practice positive habits and recognize their own emotions. In the next stage, students learn to share their emotions with their family and how to show love properly. The project creates a game show that helps family members understand one another better, she added. 

Nguyen Bao Ngoc and Tran Nguyen Minh are two students in class 3B2: 

"I started to take care of myself better and do more things by myself — like math exercises, washing my clothes, and baking."

"I show my love for my parents by taking care of my siblings and helping mom in the kitchen. I design cards to sell at cafes and donate books to the students at Xa Dan school."

Stage 3 of the project assigns students the tasks of selling DYI cards and creating a bookshelf for hearing-impaired students at Xa Dan school.

The parent of one program participant said, "Taking part in the project has made my child a happier and more positive little young man. He has become more responsible through the jobs he was assigned: making money from selling DYI cards and donating books for unfortunate students, things he has never done before."

Another parent said, "My child has gained more confidence. I’ve never seen him selling things that he made himself. I’m so proud to see that students so young can do such good things."

According to teacher Nguyen Thi Ha My, program participants can choose their team based on their hobbies and abilities. They can also learn sign language to communicate with students with hearing loss. 

The students perform sign language in a special art performance called “Live like flowers” to spread their love project, My said, adding that the “Touch” project has raised 91 USD, bought 55 new books, donated 70 old books, and built a bookshelf at Xa Dan school.
