VOV reporters win National Press Awards on Party building

(VOVWORLD) - The 2022 National Press Award on Party building or the 7th “Golden Hammer & Sickle” Award Ceremony was held in Hanoi on Friday to mark the 93rd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Voice of Vietnam (VOV) won several awards for its high quality, multi-dimensional, and close-to-life journalistic works featuring Party building and rectification and the development of the political system.

Among more than 2,000 journalistic works submitted to the competition, the series on improving the quality of Party members by reporters Phan Thanh Ha and Hoang Thi Tuyet Le of VOV Bureau in the central region was one of the six winners of the A Prize.

The series were praised for their outstanding quality and objective reflection of Party activities at all levels in Da Nang city.

Reporter Phan Thanh Ha said: "I had opportunities to meet and talk the right people, pensioners, and Party Secretaries in residential areas, and attend regular meetings of Party Committees. At that time Da Nang experienced major changes of key cadres. The Da Nang municipal Party Committee has had many creative and appropriate solutions in the Party building work."

The reporters analyzed lessons learned from the city’s management of Party members and proposed solutions to improve the quality of Party members.

Phan Thanh Ha said: "The main message of our series is to contribute to improving the quality, strength and combat spirit of the Party, strengthen the management of Party members, and improve quality of Party members in the new period”.

From a different perspective, reporters Nguyen Thuc Hien, Cao Thi Phuong Lan, and Tran Ba Duy of the Culture-Social Affairs Department of VOV (VOV2) won a B prize for a special program called “Promoting talents for prosperous Vietnam”. The program reviewed major Party and State policies on attracting talent over the years. 

The program invited prestigious politicians, policy makers, scholars, historians including Professor Nguyen Si Dung, former Deputy Head of the NA Office, Dinh Duy Hoa, former Director of the Administrative Reform Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nguyen Duc Ha, former Director of the Party Organizations Department of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, and Professor Doctor Vu Minh Giang, Vice President of the Vietnam History Science Association.

During the program, the guests discussed and proposed solutions to tackle obstacles in the policies to attract more talents' contributions to national development.

Reporter Tran Ba Duy said: "President Ho Chi Minh said without knowing how to encourage, use and promote the talents would be a shortcoming and a waste of precious resources of the Party and State. President Ho Chi Minh said encouraging and tapping the potential of the talents should be a regular work like a gardener taking care of a precious tree. The President’s teachings is a great lesson. This is also the message that we want to deliver through our program."

Reporters of the VTC Digital Television of Vietnam won a B Prize for a story called “From Dak Me village to Dien Hong meeting hall". VTC News won a thematic prize for a program called “Oath before the Party”. The program reflects efforts by Party members and Party organizations and enhances the audience’s trust in the Party ideology.

VOV Bureau in the northwestern region won a C prize for a radio report “Realizing Party resolution” which supported Party officials and members in Son La province who dared to speak, dared to do, and dared to take responsibility .

With in-depth, multi-dimensional, objective approaches, VOV reporters have produced quality stories to defend the Party ideology and contribute to Party building and rectification as well as national construction and defense.

The prizes won at the "Golden Hammer & Sickle" Award and other national and international press awards have promoted the prestige of the Voice of Vietnam.
