This year’s campaign focuses on joining hands for poor children, children of ethnic minorities, while increasing efforts to fight drowning in children, as well as violence and sexual abuse against children.

"In addition to launching movements and campaigns for children, it’s of great importance to ensure that the Law on children is strictly followed by all related parties. It’s neccessary to educate everybody, especially children, about their rights and ensure that any violations will be fairly punished," said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam at the event.

Nguyen Thu Trang, a local secondary school student, told VOV: "We need safe playgrounds where we can play and grow under the protection of families and all relevant social organizations and authorities. More should be done to protect children from social evils and ensure that we will have a summer full of fun and great experiences."
