23 of the deaths and 22 of the missing people are in Quang Nam province. Torrential rains and flooding have isolated 3,000 households in Phuoc Loc and Phuoc Thanh communes in Quang Nam province since Wednesday.

Rescue efforts have been strengthened in Quang Nam province. Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc of the Command Committee of the Military Zone 5 on Saturday ordered increasing forces and accelerating search for the missing people while ensuring absolute safety for the rescue force. Head of the Internal Affairs Commission of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Ha discussed with relevant forces in Phuoc Son commune on ways to rescue and deliver aids to the two isolated communes. The province has mobilized local people and militias to join the rescue efforts.

"We will mobilize more vehicles to Phuoc Son commune and clear the road to pave the way to the commune. The terrain is very difficult." said Ha.'

VOV President Nguyen The Ky speaks at a VOV fundraising event to help flood victims recover from disasters

In an effort to help flood victims in central Vietnam, the Voice of Vietnam on Friday held a fundraising event called “Love for the central region”. 560,000 USD have been collected at the event.

VOV President Nguyen The Ky said: "The Voice of Vietnam has sent several reporters to the flood-hit region to cover the disaster and disaster rescue efforts promptly. We also organized a fundraising event calling for donors to help flood victims. Each VOV employee contributes a day’s salary at least. We have sent the donation to Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Tri province to help local people recover from the disaster and visited families of 13 soldiers who died while rescuing flood victims in Rao Trang 3 hydro-power plant."
