The artists performed six folk dances, considered the origins of 36 xoe dances in Vietnam’s north-western region. On this occasion, Yen Bai province received a certificate recognizing xoe dancing as a national intangible cultural heritage. Hoang Thi Hong Hanh, deputy chairwoman of Nghia Lo communal People’s Committee, said: "We’ve set up a project to preserve 6 ancient folk dances. Over the recent years, the local authorities have mobilized the participation of Thai culturists in educating the younger generations on xoe dances. Xoe dancing is indispensable in our festivals and get-togethers as it helps promote community bonds and attract visitors to town.
The Muong Lo Culture, Sports and Tourism Week will run until next Sunday with various exciting activities.
