(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s National Strategy on Green Growth for 2021-2030 and the vision to 2050 will play an important role in boosting economic restructuring and growth model reform, contributing to economic recovery in the post-COVID-19 pandemic period, said Minister of the Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung.

At a meeting on the implementation of the National Strategy on Green Growth in Hanoi on Friday, Minister Dung said that it is the foundation for Vietnam to realize low-carbon emission targets, contributing to limiting global warming.

“The Strategy has changed the awareness on green growth for national development in the future. But actions to realize this have more significant meaning when reaching the goals through comprehensive solutions, especially against global climate change challenges and the increasing development gap among countries. The conference is the first practical act to unify actions that will be implemented in the coming time to achieve the Strategy’s goals,” Dung said.

The Green Growth Strategy aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create green economic sectors, make and promote green and sustainable lifestyles, and make environmentally focused economic transformations. The Strategy sets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per GDP by 15% in 2030 and 30% in 2050 compared to that in 2014.
