He made the statement at a meeting in Hanoi on Wednesday with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to review 15 years of implementing a party resolution on agriculture, farmers, and rural development.

“It’s necessary to take into account targets and measures in line with the new context, each development period from now until 2030, and the vision to 2045. Key breakthrough missions and solutions should create changes in quality; new policies and mechanisms should tap human resources and natural and social conditions, to serve agricultural and rural development to narrow the gap between urban and rural areas toward sustainable national socio-economic development,” said Minister Tran Tuan Anh.

In the 15 years since the resolution was promulgated, Vietnam’s agriculture has maintained a fairly comprehensive development with improved growth quality. The sector has been shifting towards commodity production on a larger scale, higher productivity and better quality, and ensuring national food security in any situation.
