Vice President calls for more support for disadvantaged chidlren

(VOVWORLD) - Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, who is Chairwoman of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children, met with business sponsors for the Fund on Saturday.

There are about 1.5 million disadvantaged children in Vietnam and more than 2.5 million children at risk of falling into disadvantaged circumstances. During its 26 years of operation, the Fund has raised 236 million USD to support 30 million children via various programs such as congenital heart surgeries and fatal disease treatment, milk and nutritious portions, and fresh water access. This year the Fund has received 4.3 million USD to help 80,000 children.

Vice President Thinh thanked businesses for accompanying the Fund and called for continual donation to help less fortunate children. “We target to take care of 10,000 children next year. I hope you will work with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children to help the children, who are the future of the nation.”

Businesses at the meeting committed to contribute 4.3 million USD to the Fund.
