Though far from the mainland, islanders enjoyed the celebrations filled with laughter. Local children were treated to lion dance and performances by officers, soldiers, teachers and students.
Le Thi Kim Ngoc, a student at Truong Sa Primary School, said: “I am very happy to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with my friends and soldiers on the island. Although there are not as many colorful lanterns as on the mainland, I find Mid-Autumn Festival on the island very warm and meaningful.”
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Tien Diep, Political Commissar of Truong Sa Island, said:“The officers and soldiers stationed on the remote island take good care of the local children. We prepare the Mid-Autumn Festival not only for them to have fun but also to feel the love and attachment of the soldiers and people here. This is a great source of encouragement for the soldiers in guarding the islands of the Fatherland.”
Organizers presented 500 Mid-Autumn gifts to the children of officers and staff working in the Truong Sa archipelago. It’s not just a joy for the children but also a bond of military-civilian affection.
