Vietnam to establish, manage 27 maritime protected areas by 2030
(VOVWORLD) - By 2030, approximately 6% of Vietnam’s natural waters will be coastal and marine protected areas, according to a decision signed on Tuesday by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, approving a project on protecting and expanding maritime protected areas.

The project will establish new marine and fishery resource protected areas, and restore Vietnam’s marine ecosystems.
It will effectively manage and protect Vietnam’s marine, coastal, and island ecosystems; contribute to biodiversity conservation; restore and protect critical marine ecosystems; respond to climate change and rising sea levels, and promote the sustainable development of Vietnam’s marine economy; towards making Vietnam a strong marine country.
