Vietnam works to promote BBNJ Agreement
(VOVWORLD) - As a coastal nation committed to international laws, including the UN Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), Vietnam is an active participant in the negotiation for the agreement for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ), according to a seminar held as part of the 30th anniversary of UNCLOS entry into force.

The event was co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam Society of International Law on Tuesday.
It reflects efforts to promote understanding of the Law of the Sea and the BBNJ Agreement, with emphasis on countries’ obligations and benefits, as well as support mechanisms such as technology transfer, financial assistance, and capacity-building initiatives.
Vietnam was also among the first countries to sign the agreement and is currently preparing its ratification dossier. It is also working closely with other countries to prepare for the implementation of the agreement once it comes into effect.
