Launched in June last year, the awards attracted nearly 950 entries across a wide range of categories, including print, online, radio, television, and photojournalism.
Venerable Thich Gia Quang, head of the organizing committee, said the awards have grown into a prestigious national journalism prize while reflecting the growing influence of Buddhism’s values of compassion, wisdom, and humanity in contemporary society.
“The 2025 Buddhist Journalism Awards carry special significance. Amid the restructuring and transformation of the media sector, Buddhist communications have continued to thrive through dedication, responsibility, and faith in the positive contributions that genuine journalism can make to society,” he said. “This is a testament to the spirit of engaged Buddhism in Vietnam, which has accompanied the nation throughout its history.”
The Special Award was presented to “The Imprint of Buddhism Accompanying the Nation”, a 20-part series by Thich Thanh Phuong, Bui Huu Duoc, Thich Minh Hai, Tran Ngoc Thoan, and Phan Ngoc Dung of Ho Chi Minh City Police Newspaper.
In the print and online category, the First Prize went to “Following in the Footsteps of the King Monk”, a five-part series by Nguyen Hoang Duong of Tien Phong Newspaper.
The First Prize in the radio and television category was awarded to “Borderland Sunshine” by Ngo Thi Dung, Hoang Van Tuyen, and Nguyen Khoa Manh Tung of Lang Son Newspaper and Broadcasting Station.
