In its latest update, the WHO assessed the risk as very high for DRC, high for Uganda and other neighboring countries, and low for the rest of the world.
As of Sunday, the DRC had reported 515 confirmed cases, including 91 deaths. Uganda had reported 19 confirmed cases, including 2 deaths. All cases in Uganda are epidemiologically linked to the outbreak in DRC, with evidence of both imported infections and secondary transmission by contacts and healthcare workers.
Authorities, working with the WHO, are implementing response measures. Last Friday, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the WHO launched a joint Ebola preparedness and response plan, seeking 518 million USD to help African countries prepare for, detect, and respond to the outbreak.
