Three hours on a high-speed boat from Ca Mau city brings visitors to the southern most point of Ca Mau.

Visitors are first impressed by the local people’s hospitality and kindness. The best way to see the tip of the country is by motorbike at a cost of 5 to 10 USD. For a panoramic view, there’s a watchtower on the canal, which divides the area into West and East. Dozens of small houses are ranged along the east side, creating the southern most residential area in Vietnam. On the dark blue surface of the sea sits Khoai islet whose diverse flora and fauna attracts many tourists. Phan Anh Tuan is a visitor from the central highlands province of Lam Dong: “This is the first time I’ve visited this area. I’m very impressed with the length of our country. It is a long way from my province to Cape Ca Mau, about 800 km, but I think it’s worthwhile for me to come here. I’m very proud of my homeland”.

Another must see place is Ca Mau National Park, whose mangrove forest is home to a diverse ecosystem. Ly Hoang Tien is Chairman of Dat Mui Commune’s People’s Committee: “All Vietnamese people want to visit the southern most point of Ca Mau and enjoy its beauty. This area has a national park and a world nature reserve making it an ideal venue for relaxation and research. Khai Long beach has a great potential for tourism development”.

Local people live mainly on marine and forest resources and their lifestyles are surprisingly simple. Guests are always welcomed with kind smiles, home made food specialties, wine and local chants.
