(VOVworld) – The ASEAN Community Women’s Group made its inaugural debut in Hanoi on Tuesday.

 

 

In his address, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said that 2015 is important to ASEAN and global development as well as women’s advancement:  “The establishment of the ASEAN Community Women’s Group in Hanoi is one stronger commitment by Vietnam to joint efforts to build a human-centered ASEAN Community. The group will promote friendship and connectivity between the people of ASEAN countries and between ASEAN and the world. I believe that members of the group will hold activities to share their experiences, support each other, and increase mutual understanding and friendship, contributing to a solid and united ASEAN.”

 

 

The creation of the group was part of a series of activities in Vietnam to mark ASEAN’s 48^th anniversary and 20 years of Vietnam’s membership. Group members are the wives of chief representatives and female diplomats from ASEAN countries.
