(VOVworld) – A ceremony to commemorate the 50^th anniversary of the Volunteer campaign, to promote young people’s national pride, patriotism and creativity towards national development and construction, was held on Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh city.

It was part of activities to mark the 84^th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. War veterans and young participants reviewed the hard but glorious days of the country, when 3 million young Southern people were determined to fight for national independence under the Party’s leadership. Former President Nguyen Minh Triet said: “The campaign is not only popular in Vietnam but also well-known all around the world. It is also supported by international young people and youth organizations”.

On the same day, Quang Tri’s provincial Youth Union honored 84 outstanding Youth Union secretaries. A festival for Youth Union secretaries was held in Binh Thuan province. The program includes workshop on improving youth union activities and skills to deal with different situations, as well as games.
