Afghan presidential rivals reach a power-sharing deal

(VOVworld) -  The two Afghan presidential candidates have agreed on a power-sharing deal to end the political blockade since the presidential election on June 14th. The deal, promised an end to the tumultuous, five-month aftermath of the Afghan presidential election, will give the losing candidate substantial influence in the next government. Under the deal, the winner, Ashraf Ghani, would become president but would grant significant powers to the loser, Abdullah Abdullah.

Abdullah accused Ghani of electoral frauds to win the final election round. Vote counting under the UN audit has been delayed for many weeks as the two candidates had not agreed with a power sharing deal brokered by the US.
