The Metropolitan police’s deputy assistant commissioner Neil Basu said Monday that Masood was clearly interested in jihad and his attack echoed the rhetoric of ISIS leaders in terms of methodology.  The perpetrator, who had birth name as Adrian Elms and changed his name to Khalid Masood in 2005, was detained twice for a knife attack in 2000 and knife ownership in 2003.

52-year-old Masood drove a car through a crowd of pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, killing 4 and injuring about 50, then ran through the gates of parliament and fatally stabbed a police officer, before he was shot dead by police. Police arrested 12 people for investigation, 9 of them have been released.
