At a meeting earlier between Kishida and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the two leaders committed efforts to strengthen political ties. They agreed that the two countries are each other's cooperative partner rather than threats.

China was the first leg of Kishida’s 8-day tour which will also include Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.
