China’s top leader begins State visit to Vietnam

(VOVworld) - General Secretary of the Communist Party and President of China Xi Jinping will begin a two-day State visit to Vietnam on Thursday.

Chinese Party General Secretary and State President Xi Jinping and his spouse begin a state visit to Vietnam from November 5 to November 6, 2015.

The visit is at the invitation of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Truong Tan Sang.

This is the first trip to Vietnam by the highest-ranking Chinese Party and State leader in nine years. It is significant for Vietnam-China relations, a milestone in the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Vietnam aims to confirm its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralism, and diversification, and its determination to develop its ties with China on the basis of mutual respect, mutual benefit, and equality. 

During his visit, Xi will meet with Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, President Truong Tan Sang, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, and PM Nguyen Tan Dung.
