The delegation was received by Cuba’s Vice President Miguel Diaz Canel. During talks, both sides discussed measures to develop US-Cuba ties as well as the removal trade embargos the US imposed on Cuba over the past 5 decades. The visit indicates improvements in the two countries’ normalization of bilateral ties since they announced to restore diplomatic ties that were severed for decades. The U.S. State Department spokesperson John Kirby said negotiations are being conducted at technical levels with significant progress.
