Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh has highlighted the need to combine the development of Vietnam’s marine economy with its sea and island security and sovereignty. Ninh made the statement at Thursday’s working session with Quang Ngai provincial leaders to review the socio-economic performance last year and in the first quarter of this year. He said the Government has decided to modernize fishing vessels while ensuring local living standards and contributing to safeguarding sea and island security. In the near future, Quang Ngai province will choose a coastal district to pilot the model. The Deputy PM agreed to the proposal of Quang Ngai province and Vinashin to build 22 new steel-hulled fishing boats.
