(VOVworld)- Vietnam celebrates the 105^th birthday of General Vo Nguyen Giap on August 25.

Researcher Tran Van Khoi is from Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy: “General Giap founded the people’s army and led his forces to the success of the August Revolution in 1945. He was the highest ranking commander during the two resistance wars against France and the US. He demonstrated the finest values of Vietnamese combat technics and humanitarian morality as a disciple of Ho Chi Minh.”

General Giap has been a legendry figure in Vietnamese history, especially following the Dien Bien Phu victory. Dr Bui Dinh Phong from the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy said: "General Giap was a great world figure. He has introduced the Vietnamese land and people to the world through his contacts with international friends. This makes them understand more about Vietnam, its people, army and President Ho Chi Minh."
