Hanoi marks 50th anniversary of patriotic youth movement

(VOVworld) – Hanoi on Thursday hosted the 50th celebration of a patriotic youth movement which encourages youngsters to stand ready to fight, to sacrifice, to go anywhere, and do anything requested by their motherland. The ceremony highlighted the significance and development of the “Three readies” movement launched by the Hanoi municipal Youth Union during Vietnam’s resistance war against the US. The movement was enthusiastically responded to by 26,000 young city-dwellers who took to the streets to condemn the US bombings in northern Vietnam. The “Three Readies” program evolved into the largest revolutionary movement of the 20th century.
