Iraqi PM optimistic about a new government

(VOVworld) - Iraqi Prime Minister-designate Haider al-Abadi said Monday that the establishment of a unified government might be finalized within the next one or two days because talks concerning the formation were positive and constructive.

Al-Abadi was asked to form a new government that could reduce tensions among religious sects and cope with the self-declared Islamic State which now controls large portions of Iraq.The same day, a suicide bomb attack in a Shi'ite mosque in eastern Baghdad killed 11 people and wounded 32, according to police and medical sources. The attack took place 3 days after a Sunni mosque northeast of Baghdad was assaulted, killing 70 people.
