Media’s role in fighting corruption

(VOVworld) – A training conference opened in Da Nang city on Wednesday to increase the legal awareness of corruption prevention among leaders, reporters and editors of media organizations. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung said media organizations and journalists must abide by legal regulations and improve their professional skills and code of ethics: “We hope that the speakers and journalists will have open and frank discussions, which will help to improve legal education and communication in the near future. This will help the government fight corruption.”

Over the last few years, media organizations have reported many major corruption cases and wrongdoings in land management. They have helped to increase transparency in state agencies and people’s responsibility in abiding by the law and supervising law enforcement.
