(VOVworld) - Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung concluded his visit to Cuba at the invitation of Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca. During his visit from September 13-15, Minister Dung met with Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economics and Planning Ricardo Cabrisas, and Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero.

The Vietnamese and Cuban ministers said the 1995 agreement on investment protection and the 2002 agreement on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion are a solid foundation for stronger economic ties.
They agreed to regularly exchange information to fine tune the institution and economic development model, attract and manage direct foreign investment, develop tourism, and support businesses in 12 cooperative areas.
On the occasion, representatives from the Vietnamese Foreign Investment Agency and Cuba’s Mariel Special Development Zone signed an agreement on investment promotion to facilitate investment flow between the two countries.
