NA Chairman receives US senator John McCain

(VOV) - In the face of global complications and security threats, Vietnam and the US should increase bilateral cooperation, especially in economics, trade, national defense and security, said US Senator John McCain, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, at a reception in Hanoi on Friday hosted by NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung. McCain noted the upcoming signing of free trade agreements, especially the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), which will create plenty of opportunities for each country and the whole region to increase trade. National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung acknowledged McCain’s substantial contributions to Vietnam-US cooperation over the years, from normalizing bilateral ties in 1995 to boosting cooperation in various areas.

Regarding Senator McCain and his delegates’ opinions about the situation in the East Sea, as well as in region and the world, Chairman Hung stressed that Vietnam, which has experienced many past wars and suffered numerous losses, wanted to maintain peace and build ties of friendship and broad cooperation with all countries in the world in the interest of global peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
