NA Standing Committee wraps up its 31st session

(VOVworld)- The National Assembly Standing Committee wrapped up its 31st session in Hanoi on Thursday. Earlier, discussing the revised Law on the State Budget, the delegates stressed the importance of ensuring the key role of the central budget and strengthening regulations on spending, transparency and accountability in budget utilization and management. Head of the National Assembly’s Law Committee Phan Trung Ly said:“The revisions to the Law need to address existing problems in budget utilization and management in order to ensure the effective, unified and transparent use of the state budget. To this end, we need to review the implementation of the state budget and abide by the Constitution”.The deputies agreed on the need to further specify stipulations on the revenues, budget spending, budget balance and the authority of People’s Council in budget implementation.

The same day, the National Assembly Standing Committee released a Statement on its 31st session.

The National Assembly Standing Committee convened its 31st session from September 22 to October 2. The deputies discussed 9 draft laws to submit to the 8th session of the 13th National Assembly. Reports by the People’s Supreme Court, the Chief of the People’s Supreme Procuracy and the government on the execution of court decisions, crime prevention, anti-corruption, and the restructuring of the public sector, state-owned enterprises and the banking system were also discussed. The NA Standing Committee held Q&A sessions with the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam. The Committee asked Ministers, Heads of sectors and relevant agencies to promptly address the problems raised by the deputies to create positive progress in the management of resources, environment and minerals as well as improve the management of fiscal and monetary policies. The deputies also discussed the approval of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Disbled and the Convention Against Torture.
