The new three-story building has eight classrooms and two meeting rooms. Several existing buildings were converted to dormitories with new bunk beds to accommodate more students. The Pho Bang Primary School will serve as an emergency shelter when a natural disaster occurs.

Since 2009, the US government, through the Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster and Civic Aid program, has helped build schools, clinics, disaster coordination centers, and bridges in many towns and villages across Vietnam.  The Pho Bang Primary School is the 20th school built under this cooperation.
